Who Am I?

My name is Jill Veltkamp, and I am “the middlemost.”  I am a sinner saved by grace, and my journey has not been for the faint of heart. I love to tell stories and share my moments in writing. I am an avid reader and a busy mom. I live on the high plains of Wyoming with my wonderful husband and our seven children. We are a blended and stirred bunch of excitement.

At this juncture, I find myself in the middle of my most amazing challenge yet. In January of 2016 my first husband died suddenly in a tragic accident. I was left with three little boys and little else of my own. With lots of love and family support we dug our way from the pit of grief and sorrow up to a thriving family making the most of our days. A little over a year from the accident, I met my second soul mate. His ex-wife passed away in a car accident in 2015 and he came with a wonderful bunch of kiddos as well, 3 teenage/preteen girls, and a 5 year old boy.

Our courtship was a small distance relationship that just seemed right and God written from the very beginning. We quickly made it official and found ourselves a nice big house on a windy hill with 6 acres to run around and grow on. We have my two trusty black dogs who are deep into their lives and happily lazy. And have now added 12 chickens to our brood.

The adventures of parenting, step parenting, marriage, and all the things in between are in full swing. I have spent many days and nights devouring parenting literature and countless hours bowing my head in prayer. In addition to life just being all its usual hard knocks, the battle of life after loss is never fully won. We share in our trials and grief, we live as if there is no tomorrow, and we never forget how precious time is.

This is my second chance at love, life, and happiness. I am in the middle of the messes and making the most of every breath God gives me!
